Writing sarcasm: Harder than you think

No matter how often you use sarcasm in your everyday life, no matter how funny you are, and no matter how much you impress your friends with the way you can turn a phrase: writing sarcasm is harder than speaking it.

Just try it in a few emails and you'll see what I mean.

When writing a story where you don't have emojis to help you convey the joviality of what you're writing or don't have a reputation that is preparing people for sarcasm, the task is even harder.

You can write sarcasm and you can write it well, but keep in mind that the task isn't as simple as being sarcastic in your everyday life. Put in the time required to get it right.
