Who's describing your characters?

There is a good chance that I wouldn't describe myself the same way my family, colleagues, or friends would. There's also a good chance that each of these three groups would have a different description of me.

The same goes for your characters. How they will be described to your readers depends on who is providing the description.

Is your narrator their friend? Their ex? Their enemy? The person that is being described?

Is your narrator an impartial omniscient voice that won't have any personal opinion to bring to the descriptions?

When describing the characters in your story, make sure you are describing them in the narrator's voice and not yours.
