Dogs can be trained to find a lot of things. Money, drugs, guns, bodies… Pigs find truffles. Bluebirds hide their food all over the place and find it when they're hungry.
Animals help us find things all the time.
If your character is looking for a physical object, there might be an animal trained to help them.
Find the right animal for your search if you need a way to discover an object with more than just dumb luck.
