The thing about writing is, it's not a competition. While you might want to be the best seller or at the top of the reading list, there's always room for another book.
This leaves a lot of room for cooperation.
Work with other writers to bounce ideas off each other. Give each other feedback on what you have written. Talk about how you promote your writing and what works.
Writing might not be a team sport, but it still leaves a lot of room for cooperation. Don't be afraid to get out there and work with someone.
