Show a character's personality

We are asked to show and not tell all the time.

This doesn't only apply to actions, mood, and scenery, but to personality as well. There are plenty of ways that you can demonstrate a character's personality instead of telling readers about it.

Show how your character reacts to a set back.

Put them in a social situation where they have to talk about what is most important to them to show their values and how they present themselves to the public.

Embarrass them in public to see how quickly they can overcome an obstacle.

Showing a character's personality will help your readers remember traits that might be harder to describe or convey in words. Show your readers why they should love, hate, or envy the people you are creating.
