There seems to be one thing that people have in common: they think that their opinion and viewpoint is right. Whatever their political leaning, religious background, or personal style, people think that their way of seeing things is the right way.
You should expect the same of your characters.
Even if the characters you're writing about don't share your opinion, they likely believe whole-heartedly in theirs. Don't let how you feel temper how they feel. Give them all the conviction you would give someone who shares the same thoughts and feelings you do.
You would want someone writing about you to do the same.
