Should you write a sequel?

Sequels are a never-ending trend. If people liked something and paid money to consume it, there will very likely be a sequel.

But does every story need a sequel?

Absolutely not.

If you don't have something new to say, if your characters don't have any more growth ahead of them, if you don't have an original angle to your story: you likely don't have a sequel.

You can try writing something to see if a sequel will unveil itself, but just because you had a good story doesn't mean that you have to write a sequel. Make sure that you aren't just writing one for the sake of writing it should you start that second story.
