Revision should help you confirm that you're using the right words in each sentence you've written. To find the right word during revision, however, you first have to realize that your original word is wrong.
How do you do that? Lots of ways!
- Read your work out loud to see what words stick out
- Look for spots where you use many words to express what you should only need one or two words to say
- Find the long words and consider whether a shorter word would be better
- Remove the words you wouldn't use in everyday conversation
It's important to find the right words for your work. Find the wrong ones so you can replace them with the right perfect ones.
