The internet makes us feel like all information is at our fingertips. It makes us feel like we'll be able to find any piece of information we need as soon as we decide that we need it.
That's not necessarily true, however.
There are plenty of things that are not available on the internet. Just ask someone who is researching their family tree or trying to remember the name of some restaurant in their hometown that doesn't exist anymore.
If you're going to make your story realistic, you need to make sure that your characters do the right research to find the information their looking for, and that they only find information that should be available to them. Facts magically appearing when necessary are as unlikely as a weapon falling into someone's hand just when they need to defend themselves.
We might think that all information is easy to find, but it actually isn't. Make sure that your characters live that reality as truly as your readers do.
