At the core, all fiction you write should have a story. It should say something and talk about some event or oddity.

Does your story work?

There are a lot of ways to check, but there is one simplest way.

Would you tell this story to your friends? Would you bring it up if there was a lull in conversation? Do you think it would give you something to talk about at a cocktail party?

If your story isn't interesting enough to tell others, then it might not be interesting enough to write about. Figure out why or move on to a story that is interesting.
