Focus on the good story

There are a lot of tools to help you get your novel done.

There are beat sheets and character development sheets and so many other tools. And they can be great.

However, they shouldn't be your full focus.

You can get so busy filling in all these tools that you forget to make sure your story is good. You forget to make sure the flow is there. You forget to make sure that your words are entertaining.

You focus so much on the tools, that you don't focus on putting the story together outside of your plan.

Use the tools the way they work best for you, but don't forget that you're writing a story and trying to keep readers engaged. Focus on your story and use the writing tools to help you do that.
