There are plenty of techniques out there to help you edit.
Read backwards.
Highlight sentences in alternating colours.
Read with a ruler to focus on one line at a time.
Read out loud.
All these things have one element in common.
They force you to read more slowly.
Whatever your regular speed, these techniques will force you to slow down. Often, that quiets the part of your brain that expects what's coming next, forcing it to actually read what's on the page.
