Character comes in small gestures

Your characters don't need to make big gestures to show that they are good people. They don't need to kill someone to show they are cruel. They don't need to tremble all the time to show that they are anxious.

Small gestures show real characteristics. It's when someone does something without thinking about it that they show who they really are.

Someone who opens the door for someone whose arms are full, even if it slows them down for a few minutes, is a considerate person. Someone who pretends not to see that someone has dropped their things on the floor and is really distressed is not thoughtful. Someone who checks a map seven times before being sure that they know where they are going is nervous.

Small gestures really show a person's personality. Include those small gestures in your story to show your readers who your characters really are.
