Write Your Therapy

Here's the thing about getting your feelings out in writing: you don't have to be writing the truth when doing it.

Journaling is one thing, but writing to get through your feelings, cope with what's happening in the world, or just process a situation doesn't have to have anything to do with the truth.

Think your boss is an ogre? Write about an actual ogre and the hero that conquers them.

Think your family is too involved in your business? Write a story about someone who leaves home and sets out on their own.

Regret not investing in Apple when you were offered room on the ground floor? Write the story about how money doesn't buy happiness or about the company that will take over the world and make all current businesses obsolete.

There are a lot of ways you can write to work through your feelings. They don't all have to be real-to-life however. Some can be just the inspiration you need to write a really great story.
