All stories include conflict. There is no world where everyone gets along and all people live in harmony. Conflict is inevitable and makes stories more interesting.
When you're planning or editing your conflict, make sure that you keep your end goal in mind.
If your opponents refuse to even speak to each other, it is unlikely that they will someday talk out all their problems unless absolutely forced to.
If your two parties live miles and miles apart, they probably won't have a chance encounter where they can solve all their troubles.
If your conflict needs to come to a resolution, make sure that you set up the possibility of this happening early in your story. Otherwise, the coincidence of overcoming an impossible situation will likely leave your readers doubting everything they've read.
