Test your habit

Even without trying, we get into habits. I'm under the impression that I like to multi-task. I like to change things up, doing part of one task, then part of another, and another and another, never really landing on one for too long. It keeps me from going down rabbit holes.

But then, I do something like dedicate an hour to writing because that's all I'm going to have during the week, and I end up being really productive. What I thought was an approach that would never work for me turns out to be super effective.

And then I try it a month later, and it just doesn't work.

Moral of the story: You have to try a little of this and a little of that and keep changing it up if something isn’t working. Can't concentrate? Then maybe you need music. Can't stop thinking of something, then maybe it's time to shut the world off and just write about that.

You've likely established some writing habits that you don't even think about anymore. Take the time to really look at your habits every now and then. Maybe you'll find that it's time to change them up to find your productivity and passion once again.
