If you were writing something for a client, you would have a lot of questions.
What are we writing about? Why are we writing it? Who are we writing it for? What feeling should it give people?
There are basics that you need to know when you’re writing for someone else.
You need to know these things for your writing too.
You might not need to know it when you are looking at a blank page and are about to write the first word of your story. But, by the time you are halfway through your story, you should have some idea. You should have some of these answers. You should be able to apply them to your writing and edit.
Be your own client. Ask yourself the basics questions. Then go forth, and make it happen.
