For some of us, distractions can be really easy to find. For most of us, distractions can be too easy to find when bored.
Take, for example, while doing research. Sure, you should be concentrating on the research at hand, but it's oh so easy to get distracted by this piece of information, or that one, or, well, really anything.
This doesn't have to be a loss of time, however. Just because something you read in your research isn't applicable to the project at hand doesn't mean it's never going to be applicable.
Write down the little tidbits of information that catch your eye while you're doing research. There's always the chance that they'll catch your eye again the next time you're looking for a great story idea.
And, once you have it done, get back to the topic at hand.
Now!
