Some characters must die

As much as we hate to admit it, some characters must die.

If you give someone a terminal illness, you have to come through with the terminal. If a character gets shot fifty times, it'll be hard to believe that they pull through that. If someone has a kiwi allergy and eats a full kiwi lime pie thousands of miles from a hospital, it's unlikely that they will survival.

Miracles happen, but they are not the norm.

It might make your readers sad and it might break your writer's heart, but you can't save everyone. Characters sometimes have to die.

Take a breath and decide if you're saving one of your characters when they should realistically be gone. It might be hard, but do what your story requires.
