It doesn't have to be the end of the world

Dystopian books are always in style.

There's always the chance of world events going horribly wrong and of everything we know completely changing. Readers are curious about what this could mean for the average human and how they might fare if this would happen.

You don't need to end the entire world as you know it to get a novel idea, however. You can just break a corner of it, a rule of it, or a government within it.

Putting together a dystopian world can be daunting.

If you like the idea but can't imagine going that far, start with breaking a small piece of the world and seeing how far you can go from there.
