You can put as much detail in your story as you feel is right. You can write a long story with many descriptions or a concise story that sticks to the basics.
Regardless of how detailed you choose to make your story, there are some basics you should always cover.
Who is your protagonist?
Where are they?
What are they looking for?
What is their obstacle?
Regardless of the story you're writing or the length, these are some of the basics you need to cover if you're going to bring your readers into your protagonist's world. Make sure you cover these before you consider your story finished.
