Find the right protagonist

Stories change as you write them. Surprises arise. Characters take roads that you weren't expecting. Plot holes force new information.

There are a lot of reasons that your stories can change as your writing moves forward. One of them can actually be your protagonist.

You might realize as you're writing that someone else in the story is a better narrator. You might realize that everything is happening to who you thought was your protagonist and that another character has more agency to be featured. You might realize that your protagonist is just plain boring.

There are many things that can change in your writing. This can include who your protagonist is. Don't be afraid of that change. Roll with the punches and you'll find the best story possible.
